Letterfrack is dominated by the Diamond Hill which is located in the Connemara National Park. Letterfrack was founded by the Quakers in the mid-19th century in order to help with the post-Famine relief effort. Letterfrack was also the location of Marconi’s transatlantic wireless receiving station associated with his high power transmitter in Clifden. The village is host to the visitors centre of the Connemara National Park and a starting point for walks including a track all the way to the top of the Diamond Mountain.
