Spiddal is on the eastern side of the county’s Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking district) and of the Connemara region. 12 miles west of Galway city, it is a tourist centre with a scenic beach, harbour and shore fishing.
Spiddal is a friendly town where both Irish and English is spoken. The town is probably best known for Colaiste Chonnacht to which students come from all over Ireland and the world to learn the Irish language, culture and traditions.
